Week 1 Fall 2012

This first week has been pretty busy for me (I haven't quite gotten into the rhythm of my schedule yet), but I actually managed to practice as much as I felt I should have.

Most of this week has been focused on technique.  I managed to work on a lot of different areas of the Bb key thanks to the Eugene Method (that's what I'm calling it from now on), usually focusing on one area each day.  I can remember a day where i focused on the scales by step, a day on the chromatic stuff, one on arppegios, and another on thirds.  I did a random mix of other things as well.  This last day I focused on long tones and slurring different intervals with Bb.

The cavallini is coming along.  I feel like I'm not quite ready to perform it yet since I didn't play it much all summer, but I can probably do it in a week or two (I can probably go for the second rep class when people play I guess).  It seems like I have to almost start over again on some of the technical stuff, but it is coming back to me quicker than I thought.

The Sierra 1 and 2 are also going well.  My troubles with movement 1 mostly involve the rests and not the rhythms or the notes themselves.  Movement two's problem is closely related to me just not knowing how to play softly correctly.  Another problem on that one comes any time I have to slur from a B to a Bb (if i remember correctly).  I haven't gotten that smoothed out yet.
